As these customers purchase new oil, they would normally pay an additional cost to have the oil changed on the spot. This leaves around 10 to 30 minutes (depending on the type of oil purchased and the level of service required for that specific vehicle) of free time for the customer. Normally, drivers would be content to use that time to read or play with their smartphone. However, this is an excellent opportunity for retailers to entertain customers with more viable (and revenue-generating) options. Progressive entrepreneurs have begun tying up with other retail companies to offer other products such as automotive parts or brake fuel.
